DJI, known for its drones and cameras, has launched the Avinox drive system dedicated to electric mountain bikes (eMTB). The Avinox system debuted at Eurobike 2024, offering cyclists power, endurance, and intelligent features.
“For years, DJI has focused on innovations and technologies related to batteries and motors, resulting in the creation of the Avinox system. Expanding into the e-bike market was a natural step considering our experience in motor development, battery management, and mechanical engineering. The new, compact drive system is our response to market needs, offering advanced technological capabilities,” said Christina Zhang, Senior Director of Corporate Strategy at DJI.
Power and Precision
At the heart of the Avinox system is a compact, high-torque drive unit weighing only 2.52 kg, generating a torque of 105 Nm. Thanks to the innovative planetary gearset and high-performance polymer gears, this system provides a balance between size, weight, and efficiency, ensuring quiet operation.
Intelligent Assistance
The Avinox system uses the Smart-Assist algorithm, which employs multi-sensor fusion to automatically adjust the level of assistance based on riding resistance. Users can choose from four standard assist modes: Auto, Eco, Trail, and Turbo, or activate Boost mode for extra power. Auto mode automatically adjusts the assistance, providing broad adaptability and long range. The Avinox app allows further customization of assist levels and riding parameters, enabling personalized riding experiences.
Extended Range and Rapid Charging
The Avinox system offers two lightweight, high-energy density batteries – 600 Wh and 800 Wh – providing substantial range for long trips. With GaN 3x fast charging technology, the 800 Wh battery can be charged from 0% to 75% in just 1.5 hours.
Connectivity and Safety
Avinox features a 2-inch full-color OLED touchscreen display that serves as the system’s interactive hub. Users can connect their smartphones with the Avinox app to access smart features like bike security, data recording and sharing, assist parameter adjustments, and real-time bike status monitoring. The system also includes wireless controllers with Bluetooth connectivity for added convenience and reduced handlebar clutter.

Amflow PL is the world’s first versatile electric mountain bike equipped with the DJI Avinox drive system. It is exceptionally lightweight while outperforming full-sized bikes in terms of power and range. The integrated DJI Avinox electric assist system utilizes DJI’s software and hardware technologies, offering 850 W peak power (250 W nominal power) in an ultra-light body weighing 19.2 kg.
