For many decades, the way of earning money from newspapers, and later on the Internet, has not changed. In the case of printed newspapers, there are two main sources of profit – sales and advertising. The more people buy our title, the more money we earn. On the other hand, if we omit the space, advertising will be the most profitable for us if the circulation of the newspaper and its reach are large. The same is with the Internet. Here, too, money is earned by selling advertising space for a specified period of time or another criterion (number of views, clicks). Due to the fact that there are many more such advertisements, their price is much lower than in a newspaper. The equivalent of the circulation here is the number of unique visitors per month and the number of page views.
Introduction
The printed edition of paid newspapers has an additional advantage – to read the contents of the newspaper, we have to buy it in advance. Until recently, we practically did not have to pay for access to information on the Internet. The owners of large media corporations noticed that they can earn a lot of money on online releases, but the current profit is minimal. Mid-2012 is a great discussion of publishers on how to monetize information online. There have been many ideas on how to make money on the Internet, and some of them are slowly being implemented.
