For a long time I was planning to buy a fat-free fryer to reduce its amount in my daily diet. The choice fell on the Transa Electronics TE-36, which is very popular on Allegro. How does it work in practice? Is it worth buying?
Introduction
The Transa Electronics TE-36 air fryer is available in white or black. It does not take up too much space on the kitchen counter and can be placed in the corner. It consists of two main parts. The first one is the main unit – the heart of the device, with the control panel located on the top of the housing. The second element is a pull-out bowl with a capacity of 2.5 liters, which also includes a basket that holds one liter less. The basket can be removed with a button. This makes it easier to clean the device. It is worth noting that the button is covered with a sliding cover so as not to accidentally press it when removing the baked dish.
Importantly, the entire device has non-slip feet, a thermally insulated housing, a non-heating handle, and the bowl and basket are made of a material to which ingredients do not stick.
The central panel contains control buttons and a display. We can set the working temperature every 5 degrees in the range of 80 to 200 degrees Celsius. The device also allows you to set the baking time in the range from 1 to 60 minutes (in steps of one minute). It is trivially easy to use.
Features of the air fryer
In addition to the manual control of the Transa Electronics TE-36, the manufacturer has equipped it with 5 automatic programs: defrosting, French fries, poultry, steak and fish. Each program differs in the set time and temperature, which can also be modified as needed. The currently selected mode is displayed with an intuitive icon on the display. I really liked this solution, although the manufacturer did not show off the intuitive buttons for selecting the temperature and working time. I’ve had the device for several months, and I keep getting confused with these buttons and instead of time, I change the temperature.
Interestingly, if during the operation of the fryer we pull out the container – it stops automatically. After sliding it into place, the device starts on its own, continuing the previously set program. Only after turning it off manually or after the indicated time has elapsed, it informs us with a sound signal and ends its work.
Transa Electronics TE-36: pros and cons
Aside from the pretty good looks and ease of use, what I like most about this air fryer is the speed with which it heats up. We use it very often, not only for making fries. Slightly stale rolls are enough to put in the bowl for 2-3 minutes and we get bread straight from the bakery. And we heat up not only rolls or toasts. The fryer was great for toasting dumplings or preparing minced cutlets (in this case, we fried them lightly in the pan beforehand, and then the meat was cooked in the fryer). Generally, she has no problem reheating meat from dinner. And best of all, it often comes out better than when it came out of the pan.
Apart from the confusing buttons for setting the temperature and working times, I didn’t really like the button for releasing the bowl and basket lock. Sometimes you have to wrestle with it to disconnect both elements, e.g. for washing. The Teflon coating is easy to wash, but it’s not entirely that nothing sticks to it. If you add a large amount of frozen fries (or freshly cut potato) and so every few minutes, pull out the bowl and shake it several times so that the fries detach from the surface.
