I’ve been thinking about buying my first dishwasher for a long time. The choice fell on the Bosch 4 series SMV4EVX14E built-in appliance. Was it a good buy? Find out in this review.
When preparing to buy my own dishwasher, I spoke to a lot of professionals and trained myself quite heavily on the features, common problems and what dishwashers give to their users. On this basis, I wrote a large guide, which you can read in the text: Which dishwasher to choose, what to follow?
When choosing my dishwasher, I was limited by budget and a bit of installation space. After all, the device was to be built into kitchen furniture made almost 30 years ago. It quickly turned out that when predicting a place for a dishwasher, no one thought about easy access to the power supply or preparation of the water inlet and outlet.
BOSCH SMV4EVX14E Dishwasher – first impressions
At the beginning of this article, I have to tell you why I decided to buy this particular model. I paid PLN 2399 (~510 euro) for it, and right after my purchase – the price in the store increased by another PLN 300 (~65 euro) on the occasion of … Black Friday sale, etc. I chose this model because, above all, it met my expectations regarding several things: I wanted a device that automatically opens the door at the end of the cycle, has the ability to steam dishes (temperature above 60 degrees), relatively modern design of the control panel, ease of use (because not only I will use it), the ability to run the half-load mode and easy access to filters and cleaning dishwashers. Equally important to me was the energy class of the equipment (average power consumption per hundred cycles) and energy saving. I assumed that I didn’t want the dishwasher to exceed 100kWh per hundred cycles (the further to 100, the better) and not to use more water than 10 liters per one cycle.
The Bosch Series 4 dishwasher was brought to me by courier and left at the door. It is a built-in device, but I must admit that I expected at least some nice packaging from the manufacturer. None of that, the whole thing was wrapped in foil, the edges secured with styrofoam, and the top of the package was additionally stiffened with two boards. In addition to the device itself, of course, I got the instruction manual, assembly instructions and the elements needed to make it. Inside the dishwasher I found a starter containing rinse aid and two 3in1 tablets. It’s a pity that there was no salt to soften the water, but I wasn’t too worried about it because I have a suitable pre-filter and notifications about the lack of salt can be turned off. For peace of mind, however, I bought salt dedicated to dishwashers, because no expert in several stores was able to tell me if I could use the one from the water prefilter (and 5x cheaper).
