In today’s review, I am testing the latest mechanical keyboard for players KFA2 STL 03. How does it work in practice and is it worth buying? Find our more in this article.
KFA2 STL 03 gaming keyboard – First impressions
The keyboard is quite slim, although two things immediately catch the eye. First of all, the keys are quite large and tall. They have a characteristic undercut that tilts them towards the center. This means that those located on the CapsLock-Enter line tend to be flatter and set at the bottom, while the others form a distinct staircase. This makes it easier to navigate in low light. It should be added that all keys are aligned, without shifting, which is a big plus for me, because there is no need to develop a muscle memory of a different layout than the classic one.
The second thing that I noticed is the practically lack of free space from the keys to the edge of the keyboard. They are almost flush with the edge of the metal pad, which is then placed on the plastic bottom. At first it feels like something is missing from the kit, but in the end it is a solution that takes up less space on the desk.
Speaking of the bottom, we have small anti-slip pads on the side closer to the user. The top is in turn extendable legs that increase the angle of the keyboard. I did not like the fact that the legs do not have non-slip ends, and after folding them, there is no additional material to increase the stability of the device. With a stronger hand movement, the keyboard simply slides gently on the desk top.
Wrist pad
We get a fairly large wrist rest in the set with the keyboard. It is made of a soft, trimmed material. Its bottom is a rubberized insert that gives the whole a very high stability. I have some second thoughts about how it is made. On the edges of the pad you can see cut curves and protruding fragments of material. What deserves a mention, however, is that it is quite soft and comfortable.
Mechanical blue switches
The KFA2 STL 03 keyboard consists of exactly 104 keys with blue mechanical switches. The set also includes 8 black switches, which are a bit more delicate and can be easily changed if desired. The keyboard is quite loud, but the noise level is acceptable for me. It is fast to write on it, the stroke of the keys is not as big as it might seem at first glance. They bounce back very nicely and do not jam. The longest key – the spacebar is pressed evenly, although most of the time we press only its left side. The only thing i noticed are both shifts, which gently sway from side to side.
Keyboard backlight
In the case of the backlight, we do not have any dedicated software here that would allow you to control each of the keys. We do have predefined settings for that. We can change them by pressing the FN + appropriately marked function key. We can choose from the brightness adjustment of the keyboard in several steps, and various lighting effects. We do not have the option to change the highlight color to something other than the default one. In my opinion, the keyboard is also quite dark. Comparing it to the Patriot Viper V765 gaming keyboard that I recently tested – the Viper is definitely brighter and has more backlight adjustment. An interesting fact is the ability to set the keys that should light up. The manufacturer has provided two programmable buttons C1 and C2. However, it should be emphasized that these are always the same colors seen in the photo – purple, light blue, dark blue, green, red and yellow. They are assigned to individual zones and you cannot change it in any way.
Multimedia keys work efficiently and there is no problem with macros stored in memory. I also like the indentation with the manufacturer’s logo located above the numeric keypad. It has a triangular shape and hidden blue backlight system keys.
